Head Teacher

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Head Teacher to lead our inclusive school community, supporting pupils aged 5‑18 with complex special educational needs. The role involves shaping the educational experience, building a new team, and fostering a nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a vision aligned with Polaris Community’s ethos of compassion, inclusion and personalised learning.
• Ensure compliance with Independent School Standards and the Education Inspection Framework.
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing concerns and promoting a robust safeguarding culture.
• Adapt and enhance the curriculum to meet diverse SEN needs and prepare pupils for their next steps.
• Champion pastoral care, focusing on emotional well‑being, mental health and social development.
• Advocate for SEN students in line with EHCP objectives and liaise with external partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior educational leadership, preferably within SEN settings.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and inspection standards.
• Ability to build and inspire a new team.
• Commitment to holistic development of pupils.
