Health and Safety Advisor

About the role

The Bread Factory is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Advisor to lead safety initiatives across two food manufacturing sites in Milton Keynes. You will provide expert guidance, ensure compliance with UK legislation, and foster a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead health and safety activities across two manufacturing sites within the same industrial estate.
• Provide practical advice to managers, employees and contractors on legislation, company policies and safe working practices.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments, identify hazards and support teams in implementing controls.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, produce clear reports and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Maintain and continuously improve the health and safety management system, policies, procedures and site standards.
• Deliver training, toolbox talks, inductions and awareness campaigns to strengthen employee engagement.
• Monitor performance data, prepare management reports and support emergency planning.

Required profile

• Knowledgeable and approachable health and safety professional able to balance legal compliance with operational needs.
• Hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• IOSH membership at Technical, Certified or equivalent level.
• Previous experience in a health and safety advisory role, ideally within food manufacturing or a similarly high‑risk environment.
• Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice.
