Health and Safety Manager – Asset and Property Management

About the role

Bidwells is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to embed a proactive safety culture across its national property portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Facilities and working closely with the Executive Director of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, you will provide strategic leadership and practical guidance to protect people who work, live, study and visit the properties we manage.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and promote a proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture across a national property portfolio.
• Develop and implement health and safety strategies that align with legislation, industry best practice and client expectations.
• Deliver audits, inspections and assurance programmes, ensuring compliance and identifying continuous‑improvement opportunities.
• Provide expert advice on CDM, the Building Safety Act, fire safety and the Health & Safety at Work Act to Property and Facilities teams.
• Support contractor management and supply‑chain assurance, promoting safe and compliant working practices.
• Lead investigations into incidents and near‑misses, identify root causes and embed lessons learned.
• Produce insightful reports for senior leaders and clients, using data to drive informed decisions.
• Coach and mentor colleagues, building health and safety capability across the business.

Required profile

• Proven experience in health and safety management within property or construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation (CDM, Building Safety Act, fire safety, H&S at Work Act).
• Ability to lead audits, inspections and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills for senior‑level audiences.
• Experience supporting contractor and supply‑chain safety assurance.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop safety capability in teams.
