Health and Safety Manager – Main Plenum Replacement Programme

About the role

The Main Plenum Replacement Programme (MPR) Health and Safety Manager will be based at the Scientific Campus in Porton and will report directly to the Head of MPR. The role ensures that health and safety policies, processes and procedures are consistently applied across the programme and that all technical and third‑party teams comply with UKHSA engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce UKHSA health and safety policy and engineering procedures throughout the MPR.
• Maintain statutory compliance and meet the requirements of regulatory bodies.
• Synchronise health and safety management with Estates, Engineering and Facilities (EEF) systems.
• Manage and oversee a health and safety audit programme, ensuring audit readiness for internal and external reviews.
• Liaise with corporate, scientific and technical staff to promote high standards of safety.
• Communicate proactively with customers and stakeholders at all levels.

Required profile

• Eligibility for Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) clearance, with at least three years UK residency.
• Proven experience in health and safety management within a scientific or engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and engineering policies.
• Ability to control risk, enforce procedures and support audit processes.
