Health Care Assistant – Stevenage

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Health Care Assistant to join our team in Stevenage. You will work closely with clinical staff to ensure patients receive safe, comfortable and dignified care throughout their stay.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with mobility, washing, dressing and eating.
• Maintain clean and tidy patient areas, treatment rooms and equipment.
• Prepare environments before, during and after patient‑care interventions.
• Support clinicians with minor surgical procedures and removal of sutures or clips.
• Perform blood glucose monitoring and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, BMI, peak flow).
• Provide accurate information to patients and groups within your competence.
• Promote health and well‑being awareness and keep related records.

Required profile

• Minimum 2.5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong communication skills, able to convey information tactfully.
• Good organisational ability and flexibility for last‑minute changes.
• Motivated, reliable, committed to teamwork and supporting others.
• Successful Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Required skills

• Blood glucose monitoring.
• Measurement of blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, BMI and peak flow.
• Removal of sutures and surgical clips.
• Support for minor surgical procedures.
• Infection‑control practices and dressing procedures.
