Health Records Officer

About the role

The Health Records Officer provides essential clerical support within the Health Records Department, ensuring efficient access to patient case notes for clinical and administrative users. Working as part of the Trust’s Digital Services Team, the role offers opportunities for professional development in a collaborative NHS environment.

Key responsibilities

• Retrieve, transport and file case notes across multiple hospital sites, handling bundles up to 10 kg.
• Scan and accurately upload documentation into the electronic system, meeting defined KPIs and SOPs.
• Identify, filter and process records in line with Trust policies, retention schedules and information‑governance standards.
• Review storage conditions to support safe retention and timely destruction of records.
• Support other department areas as needed to maintain continuous service delivery.

Required profile

• Physical ability to work on feet for most of the shift and lift heavy case‑note bundles.
• Willingness to work across different sites, including The Johnson Building, Florence Nightingale Hospital and Royal Derby Hospital.
• Commitment to fixed‑term contract until March 2027.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Patient Administration System (PAS) for record verification.
