Health & Safety Business Partner

About the role

Halfords is seeking a Health & Safety Business Partner to support its Garages, Retail stores and Mobile Expert teams across Southwest England and South Wales. The role will champion a robust health and safety culture, overcoming behavioural challenges and ensuring standards are consistently applied.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct audits and workplace inspections to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Produce written reports, visible safety leadership updates and monthly summaries to drive performance.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and safety concerns, determine root causes and recommend preventative actions.
• Provide competent and expert advice on health & safety matters to colleagues, contractors and visitors.
• Liaise with enforcement agencies as required and support the implementation of corrective measures.

Required profile

• Strong ability to build rapport and influence across a large, multi‑site organisation.
• Excellent analytical skills to assess risks and develop practical solutions.
• Proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement of safety standards.
• Effective communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Required skills

• Experience conducting health & safety audits and inspections.
• Knowledge of accident investigation techniques and root‑cause analysis.
• Familiarity with UK health & safety legislation and enforcement processes.
