Health & Safety Inspector – Construction (London & South)

About the role

We are partnering with a tier‑1 construction firm to hire a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Inspector for the London and South region. This hybrid position involves regular travel to live sites, supporting a culture of safety and continuous improvement across multiple projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead by example to promote a proactive HSE culture on all projects.
• Support and maintain the Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Systems and related accreditations.
• Conduct thorough site inspections, produce same‑day reports, and brief site teams on corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, run pre‑mortem scenarios, and ensure lessons are implemented.
• Deliver in‑house training, mentor operational teams, and represent HSE at internal and external forums.
• Maintain an accurate inspection calendar and contribute to safety‑culture initiatives.

Required profile

• Seasoned HSE professional with main‑contractor or enforcing‑authority experience in construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, temporary works, lifting operations, groundworks and associated risks.
• Proven ability to manage HSE across multiple live projects or regions.
• Experience leading incident investigations and liaising with statutory agencies.
