Health & Safety Manager (QHSE Lead) – Part‑Time

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) activities for a busy manufacturing site in Swindon. The role is part‑time (3‑4 days per week) on a permanent basis, offering the chance to own the QHSE function and work closely with senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve ISO management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001) and ensure all certifications remain audit‑ready.
• Plan and lead internal and external audits, coordinate corrective and preventive actions, and keep QHSE documentation up to date.
• Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation, conduct risk assessments, and manage incident investigations.
• Oversee fire safety, emergency preparedness, and the scheduling of First Aider and Fire Marshal coverage.
• Support environmental compliance, monitor performance, and assist with waste management reporting.
• Promote a positive safety culture through training, toolbox talks and KPI monitoring.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a QHSE, compliance, quality or health & safety role within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage ISO systems and lead audit programmes.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
• Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and influence stakeholders at all levels.
