About the role
As the Health & Safety Officer at Long Road Sixth Form College, you will lead the development, implementation and maintenance of health, safety and environmental policies across the campus. You will ensure compliance with legislation, investigate incidents and near‑misses, and act as the primary liaison with the Fire Service.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and update health, safety and environmental policies in line with current legislation.
- Investigate workplace incidents and near‑misses, producing detailed reports.
- Deliver safety inductions for new staff and students.
- Serve as the point of contact for the Fire Service and maintain evacuation procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and promote proactive risk management.
Required profile
- Minimum three years’ experience in a health and safety role.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety regulations.
- Relevant qualification such as NEBOSH or OSHA.
- Excellent communication, attention to detail and ability to lead by example.
- Good general fitness for walking and climbing stairs on campus.
