Health Visitor – Children’s Services

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a compassionate Health Visitor to join the Children and Families Team. Working part‑time on Thursdays and Fridays, you will support children from birth to school entry, promoting health, wellbeing and positive life outcomes within the local community.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the named Health Visitor for a caseload of children from birth to school entry.
• Assess, monitor and promote the health, wellbeing and development of children and families.
• Develop, implement and review child plans in partnership with families and multi‑agency professionals.
• Deliver the Universal Health Visiting Pathway and conduct developmental and wellbeing assessments.
• Identify risks to child wellbeing and take appropriate safeguarding or child protection action.
• Provide expert health promotion, parenting support and public health advice.
• Collaborate with health, social care, education and third‑sector partners to achieve positive outcomes.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or Midwife with a post‑registration qualification in Health Visiting or Public Health Nursing.
• Registered on Part 3 of the NMC Register with a live UK pin.
• Educated to Master’s level or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, early intervention, child protection and public protection legislation.
• Experience managing a caseload and prioritising competing demands.
• Skilled in assessment, risk management and decision‑making within complex family situations.
