Health Visitor – Fixed‑Term (3 months)

About the role

The NHS Borders Health Visiting Team is looking for a motivated Health Visitor to join the Teviot area on a three‑month fixed‑term contract. You will provide expert early‑years care and support to children aged 0‑5 and their families, working within the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) national practice model.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver universal and targeted health visiting services to families with young children.
• Assess child and family needs using the National Practice Model.
• Promote health‑promotion and public‑health initiatives within the community.
• Provide safeguarding advice and act as a lead professional where appropriate.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including midwifery, CAMHS, AHPs and social care.
• Support school‑readiness and parenting interventions.
• Maintain accurate records and uphold evidence‑based practice standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or Midwife with SCPHN Health Visitor qualification.
• Sound knowledge of the Health Visiting Pathway in Scotland.
• Familiarity with GIRFEC and the National Practice Model.
• Experience in early years, family support and community public health.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational and assessment skills.
• Ability to manage a complex caseload and work independently within a team.
