Health Visitor – Tweeddale (Fixed‑Term, 12‑month maternity cover)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Health Visitor to join the NHS Borders Health Visiting Team covering the Tweeddale & Eildon area. This fixed‑term position (12 months) provides maternity cover and focuses on delivering early‑years health support to children aged 0‑5 and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver universal and targeted health visiting services to families with young children.
• Assess child and family needs using the National Practice Model and GIRFEC framework.
• Promote health and public‑health initiatives within the community.
• Provide safeguarding advice and act as a lead professional where required.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including midwifery, CAMHS, AHPs and social care.
• Support school‑readiness and parenting interventions.
• Maintain accurate records and uphold evidence‑based practice standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or Midwife with SCPHN Health Visitor qualification.
• Sound knowledge of the Health Visiting Pathway in Scotland.
• Familiarity with GIRFEC and the National Practice Model.
• Experience in early‑years, family support and community public health.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational and assessment abilities.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and work independently within a team.
