Healthcare Assistant – Theatre (Full‑time)

About the role

Join the Theatre team at Droitwich Spa Hospital as a Healthcare Assistant. You will work 37.5 hours per week on a flexible shift pattern, providing direct patient care and supporting clinical staff in a busy surgical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility while respecting dignity.
• Support patients with eating, drinking and nutritional documentation.
• Provide emotional comfort to patients and relatives, creating a safe caring atmosphere.
• Record routine observations (blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, blood glucose) after training.
• Assist with basic clinical procedures such as wound‑care set‑up, catheter care, pressure‑area prevention and use of mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds and equipment.
• Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and administrative teams to ensure efficient patient care.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a care or health‑support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
• Good communication, caring attitude and ability to follow instructions and raise concerns.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Physically able to perform moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
