Heavy Plant Fitter

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter to join our established engineering business in Bicester. The role involves maintaining a diverse fleet of heavy plant and commercial vehicles, ensuring high availability and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on heavy plant equipment.
• Diagnose and fault‑find mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical issues.
• Service and repair a range of machinery and commercial vehicles.
• Perform inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Collaborate with the operations team to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Heavy Plant Fitter, HGV Technician, Plant Mechanic or similar.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and repair abilities.
• Experience with heavy plant equipment, commercial vehicles or HGVs.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, transmissions and braking systems.
• Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent) desirable.
• Full UK driving licence.
