Heritage Project Manager

About the role

We are seeking a practical and organised Heritage Project Manager to lead small‑scale heritage construction projects. You will oversee two works teams, each with a team leader, ensuring that historic, listed and conservation‑led buildings are repaired and refurbished to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, sequence and deliver small heritage projects, translating scopes of work into site delivery plans.
• Manage labour, materials, subcontractors and site access arrangements.
• Monitor progress, quality, safety and cost against agreed targets.
• Maintain comprehensive site records, photographs and task updates.
• Ensure RAMS, task instructions and site controls are followed.
• Identify and escalate issues to the Managing Director when required.
• Communicate professionally with clients, consultants and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Promote a tidy, disciplined, high‑quality heritage work culture.
• Use digital project management tools and ensure team compliance.
• Capture site photographs and keep task records up to date.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of company systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Heritage, Small Works or Construction Project Manager.
• Background in traditional, historic, listed or conservation buildings.
• Experience managing small specialist projects and supervising trades or small site teams.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Confidence dealing with clients and site operatives.
• Practical understanding of site delivery and health‑and‑safety.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• SMSTS certification (or SSSTS).
• CSCS card.
