HGV Class 2 Driver – Flatbed Steel Deliveries – £20.17ph

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 driver to join a leading steel distributor in Thurrock, Essex. You will operate flatbed trailers delivering sheet metal, rods and girders across the South East. The role offers consistent daily routes and competitive pay inclusive of holiday.

Key responsibilities

• Complete 5–10 steel deliveries per day on flatbed trailers.
• Secure loads using straps or chains as required.
• Perform vehicle checks and complete all paperwork accurately.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and follow shift patterns (Monday‑Friday, 05:30‑06:00 start, minimum 10.5 hours paid per shift).
• Undergo drug and alcohol testing prior to commencement.

Required profile

• Valid HGV Class 2 licence held for at least 12 months.
• Full CPC qualification.
• Valid digital tachograph card.
• Maximum of 6 penalty points on licence.
• Experience with strapping or chaining loads is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating flatbed HGVs safely.
• Ability to follow load‑securing procedures.
