HGV Driver / Loader – Waste Collection

About the role

As an HGV Driver / Loader for FCC Environment you will operate waste and recycling collection routes across the district, delivering a safe and efficient service. The role combines driving a heavy‑goods vehicle with loading bags and bins, working both independently and as part of a crew.

Key responsibilities

• Drive refuse/recycling vehicles up to 26 tonnes and complete daily vehicle checks.
• Collect waste and recycling, loading bags and bins onto the vehicle.
• Lead loaders at tipping points and ensure health & safety compliance.
• Manage paperwork, collection reports and incident documentation.
• Support depot cleaning and general duties when required.

Required profile

• Valid Category C or 7.5‑tonne licence with a digital tachograph card.
• Completed 35 hours of Driver CPC training.
• Ability to communicate clearly and lead a small team.
• Strong focus on safety, accuracy and customer service.
• Reliable, trustworthy and courteous with the public.

Required skills

• Category C licence operation.
• Digital tachograph usage.
• Driver CPC certification.
