HGV / LGV Mechanic Technician

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced HGV / LGV Mechanic Technician to maintain a fleet of around 50 commercial vehicles, ensuring safety, compliance and operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Servicing, maintenance and repairs of HGV and LGV vehicles.
• Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance (PMI).
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and DVSA inspections.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and rectifying defects.
• Maintaining accurate service and inspection records.
• Assisting with forklift truck maintenance as required.

Required profile

• Current IRTEC qualification.
• Proven experience as an HGV/LGV technician or commercial vehicle mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of DVSA standards and MOT preparation.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for fleet compliance.

Required skills

• HGV and LGV servicing and repair.
• Fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
• Preventative maintenance inspections (PMI).
• Knowledge of MOT and DVSA roadworthiness requirements.
• Forklift truck maintenance (advantageous).

What we offer

• Salary circa £50,000 basic per year.
• Working hours Monday‑Friday 7:00‑17:00 and alternate Saturday mornings 8:00‑12:00.
