HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic / Technician to join a growing commercial fleet operation in Croydon. The role offers permanent employment, Monday‑to‑Friday hours with optional overtime, and the chance to take ownership of a mixed fleet of heavy vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair HGVs and specialist commercial vehicles.
• Carry out PMI inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Manage vehicle defects and schedule planned maintenance.
• Maintain accurate compliance and maintenance records.
• Liaise with suppliers and specialist contractors as required.
• Support workshop organisation and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
• Proven experience maintaining HGV/LGV fleets.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Experience with PMI inspections and MOT preparation.
• Good understanding of fleet compliance and ability to work independently.
• Full UK driving licence.
