HGV Technician – Evening Shift (Preston)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our modern workshop in Preston on an evening shift. You will be responsible for keeping a diverse fleet of heavy goods vehicles and trailers safe, reliable and road‑ready.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using specialist diagnostic equipment.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure compliance with DVSA standards.
• Perform safety inspections, compliance checks and maintain accurate service records.
• Complete job cards efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Support colleagues and uphold a clean, organised workshop environment.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing HGVs.
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding abilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on an evening shift (11:30 am – 8 pm).
• Class 1 or Class 2 HGV licence is advantageous but not essential.

What we offer
