Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Cambridge

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive school in Cambridge from September. The role involves providing classroom support, covering lessons and delivering targeted interventions to improve pupil outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering the National Curriculum across year groups.
• Lead small‑group and whole‑class learning activities.
• Provide one‑to‑one and group interventions for pupils who need additional help.
• Cover lessons and maintain classroom management in the teacher’s absence.
• Collaborate with staff to plan and evaluate learning strategies.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA in a UK school.
• HLTA status or relevant qualifications (desirable).
• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum.
• Current safeguarding training (within the last year preferred).
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS check.

Required skills

• Classroom management techniques.
• Ability to deliver interventions and support whole‑class learning.
