Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Part‑time, Eastleigh

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive primary school in the Eastleigh area. This part‑time, long‑term position offers the chance to work closely with teachers, SEND staff and pupils, delivering high‑quality learning support and interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide planned and ad‑hoc class cover across multiple year groups.
• Deliver booster sessions and targeted interventions to raise attainment.
• Support pupils with SEND and EHCP targets, working alongside specialist staff.
• Collaborate with teachers and the wider support team to plan and implement inclusive activities.
• Promote positive behaviour, engagement and a nurturing learning environment.
• Follow guidance from external agencies to meet individual pupil needs.

Required profile

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience (or willingness to complete training).
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Flexible, proactive and reflective approach to work.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Passion for inclusive education and helping every child thrive.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEND and EHCP frameworks.
• Ability to plan and deliver targeted learning interventions.
• Competence in classroom management and behaviour support.
