Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEN Support

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support pupils with special educational needs (SEN) on a 1:1 basis in a SEND school located in Sefton. This temporary, full‑time position offers the flexibility to work across local schools, helping you find the environment that best matches your skills and preferences.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support for pupils with SEN during lessons and activities.
• Supervise break times and lunchtimes to ensure safety and inclusion.
• Assist the class teacher with classroom preparation and lesson set‑up.
• Cover lessons during planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) periods and when teachers are absent.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher to monitor pupil progress and achieve learning objectives.

Required profile

• HLTA qualification.
• Demonstrated experience working with SEN pupils, preferably on a one‑to‑one basis.
• Enhanced Child DBS (or willingness to apply).
• Previous experience in a school setting is essential.
