Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Intervention Lead (Primary)

About the role

We are partnering with a welcoming primary school in Burnley to find a confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to lead interventions and support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. This term‑time, full‑time position is ideal for an Early Career Teacher or an Education Studies graduate seeking hands‑on classroom experience before moving into teacher training.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver small‑group and one‑to‑one interventions across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
• Lead pre‑planned whole‑class lessons in the teacher’s absence.
• Support pupils with varying abilities, including those with additional needs.
• Monitor and report on pupil progress.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt support as required.

Required profile

• HLTA status or demonstrable experience leading groups/classes.
• Passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
• Confidence in managing behaviour and engaging pupils.
• Positive, flexible attitude and willingness to contribute to school life.
• Suitable for an ECT or graduate looking to gain classroom experience.
