Higher Level Teaching Assistant

About the role

SANZA Teaching Agency is supporting a welcoming primary school in North West London to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) starting September 2025. This role offers genuine classroom responsibility, allowing you to deliver lessons, lead interventions and gain hands‑on experience before entering teacher training.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑planned lessons across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
• Cover classes during teacher PPA time and staff absence.
• Lead targeted intervention groups in English and Maths.
• Support pupils of varying abilities to achieve their full potential.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers to monitor progress.
• Maintain a positive, engaging learning environment.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school community.

Required profile

• Hold HLTA status or have substantial primary‑school experience.
• Graduate or graduate‑to‑be considering teacher training.
• Experience delivering lessons or leading pupil groups.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, confident and well‑organised.

Required skills

• Lesson planning and delivery.

• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and staff.
