Higher Level Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in East Grinstead. The role starts in September 2026 and involves supporting teachers across lower KS2 classes, delivering interventions and helping pupils achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Lead small‑group and one‑to‑one literacy and numeracy interventions.
• Deliver planned lessons in the teacher’s absence while maintaining classroom standards.
• Assist with planning, assessment and tracking of pupil progress.
• Support pupils with special educational needs by adapting resources and strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers to provide differentiated support.
• Uphold safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion policies.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a school setting, preferably as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with pupils, staff and parents.
• Commitment to an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
• Excellent organisational abilities and effective time management.

Required skills

• Literacy and numeracy intervention techniques.
• Knowledge of special educational needs (SEN) strategies.
• Classroom management and lesson delivery.
