Higher Level Teaching Assistant – New SEN School (Bristol)

About the role
We are establishing a brand‑new specialist SEN school in Bristol, opening in January 2027. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) you will join the founding team and help shape an inclusive learning environment for pupils aged 5‑19 with autism (ASD) and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and deliver lessons tailored to the needs of autistic and SEMH pupils.
- Support classroom teaching and assist the class teacher in daily activities.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to senior staff.
- Mentor and guide other teaching assistants, promoting best practice.
- Contribute to the development of pupils’ confidence, independence and social skills.
Required profile
- HLTA qualification (Level 4) or equivalent.
- GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly ASD and SEMH.
- Strong communication, classroom management and teamwork abilities.
Required skills
- HLTA qualification (Level 4) – recognised teaching assistant credential.
- GCSE English & Maths (grade 4/C or higher).
