Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Paddington Primary School

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our inclusive primary school in Paddington, London. You will work closely with class teachers to support pupils across the primary age range and help deliver high‑quality learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals, small groups and whole classes when the teacher is absent.
• Support the planning and delivery of inclusive lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
• Collaborate with teachers to assess pupil progress and help plan next steps.
• Provide targeted interventions for academic, social and emotional development.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
• Support pupils with additional needs as required.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues.
• Contribute to extracurricular activities, school events and professional development.

Required profile

• Holds HLTA status or equivalent experience and qualifications.
• Experience working in a primary school setting.
• Excellent literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Confidence leading whole‑class learning when needed.
• Sound understanding of the primary curriculum.
• Adaptable, organised and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
• Positive, proactive attitude with a genuine passion for education.
