Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Part‑time

About the role

Teaching Personnel is seeking experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools in Bournemouth and surrounding areas. This part‑time, temporary role is ideal for qualified HLTAs or seasoned teaching assistants who can confidently back up teachers, lead small‑group interventions, and occasionally cover lessons.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, curriculum‑aligned lessons.
• Lead small‑group or whole‑class learning activities and targeted interventions.
• Support classroom management and behaviour strategies.
• Monitor, record and report on pupil progress.
• Provide additional support for pupils with special educational needs where required.

Required profile

• HLTA qualification or substantial classroom experience in a secondary school.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Capability to work with pupils of diverse learning needs.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
