Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Primary Maths Support (Part‑time)

About the role

The school network in Blackburn is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to deliver focused mathematics support for Years 2‑6. You will work across several primary schools, providing flexible, part‑time coverage that adapts to each school's timetable. This role is ideal for a confident educator who enjoys small‑group work and wants to make a measurable impact on pupils' numeracy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead small‑group maths interventions for Years 2‑6, targeting specific learning gaps.
• Plan, deliver and assess targeted numeracy sessions in line with the curriculum.
• Collaborate with class teachers to integrate support into daily lessons.
• Monitor and report pupil progress, adjusting strategies as needed.
• Provide flexible coverage across multiple primary schools in the Blackburn area.
• Maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.

Required profile

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a primary school setting.
• Demonstrated ability to run effective small‑group maths sessions.
• Experience working with children in Years 2‑6.
• Legal right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo Enhanced DBS checks.
• Professional references and a complete CV covering the last ten years of employment.
