Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Full‑time)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Welling, Bexley. The role supports teaching and learning across the primary phase, delivering targeted interventions, covering lessons and helping pupils achieve academically and personally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions to support pupil progress.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and delivery.
• Cover lessons as required, ensuring continuity of learning.
• Support whole‑class teaching and manage classroom behaviour.
• Maintain accurate records of interventions and pupil outcomes.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an HLTA, Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
• HLTA status or a relevant teaching support qualification.
• Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and safeguarding procedures.
• GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).

What we offer

• Full‑time, term‑time position (8:30 am‑3:30 pm, Monday‑Friday).
