Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Gateshead)

About the role

We are a vibrant primary school in Gateshead seeking a confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team from September. You will work closely with teachers to deliver engaging lessons and support pupils across Early Years, KS1 and KS2, helping them thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver whole‑class lessons when the teacher is absent.
• Lead targeted intervention sessions to close learning gaps.
• Support children’s academic, social and emotional development.
• Work across Early Years, KS1 and KS2 curricula.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive and inspiring classroom environment.

Required profile

• Holds HLTA status (essential).
• Experience in a primary school setting.
• Ability to lead a classroom and motivate pupils.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Passion for helping every child succeed.
