Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Hackney)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Hackney. The role starts in September 2026 on a permanent basis and involves working with pupils from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Key Stage 2.

Key responsibilities

• Lead whole‑class lessons across EYFS to KS2 using pre‑planned curricula.
• Deliver targeted intervention sessions for individuals and small groups.
• Support teachers in raising attainment and pupil engagement.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a productive classroom environment.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

Required profile

• HLTA status or equivalent classroom experience.
• Proven ability to cover lessons confidently in a primary setting.
• Experience delivering effective interventions.
• Adaptable, organised and proactive approach.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with pupils and colleagues.

Required skills

• Lesson planning and delivery.
• Behaviour management.
• Assessment and progress tracking.
• Small‑group and whole‑class instruction.
