Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Primary School)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in a friendly, inclusive primary school environment. The role involves delivering learning activities, managing behaviour and contributing to the overall life of the school.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes under the direction of the class teacher.
• Support teaching and learning across both KS1 and KS2.
• Lead intervention programmes to accelerate pupil progress.
• Manage and promote positive behaviour, maintaining high expectations and a calm learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to meet the needs of all learners.
• Contribute to assessment, planning and wider school activities.

Required profile

• Holds a recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent.
• Recent experience working within a primary school setting across KS1 and KS2.
• Excellent behaviour management skills and confidence to lead groups independently.
• Ability to inspire, motivate and engage children of varying abilities.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Flexibility, proactivity and commitment to raising standards for all pupils.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
