Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Primary School (KS1/KS2)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Rochester, Kent. The role starts in September 2026 and involves supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, delivering high‑quality learning experiences and providing targeted interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons and support pupils to achieve their full potential.
• Lead small‑group interventions for targeted learning needs.
• Cover classes and provide continuity of learning when teachers are absent.
• Maintain effective classroom and behaviour management.
• Collaborate with the teaching team to create an inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an HLTA or in a similar primary‑school role.
• Confidence supporting teaching and learning across KS1 and KS2.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities.
• Commitment to teamwork and a positive, inclusive ethos.

Required skills

• Ability to deliver structured lessons and interventions.
• Effective communication with pupils and staff.
• Organisational skills for managing small‑group activities.
