Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEN School (Southwark)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist secondary special educational needs (SEN) school in Southwark. The school supports pupils with mental‑health related needs across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, and the role starts in September on a full‑time, long‑term basis.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑planned lessons and targeted interventions for students with a range of SEN, focusing on mental‑health needs.
• Lead small‑group and one‑to‑one sessions to improve progress and confidence.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and the multidisciplinary team to design inclusive learning experiences.
• Adapt activities and resources to meet individual pupil requirements.
• Contribute to a positive, supportive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience working at HLTA level in a secondary setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs, preferably mental‑health related.
• Subject knowledge or strong background in English, Maths or Science.
• Ability to lead learning independently and tailor activities to diverse needs.
• Patient, resilient and committed to making a positive impact.
