Higher Level Teaching Assistant (SEN) – Hillingdon

About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant SEN primary school in Hillingdon. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and families to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition and severe learning difficulties, helping them achieve their personal development goals.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver lessons and learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Support pupils with ASC and severe learning difficulties to meet individual targets.
- Adapt learning to a range of communication, sensory and learning needs.
- Use SEN strategies such as visual timetables, sensory approaches and AAC methods.
- Promote positive behaviour with a calm, consistent approach.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, parents and carers to monitor progress.
- Help maintain a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
Required profile
- HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification.
- Significant experience supporting children with ASC and/or severe learning difficulties.
- Experience delivering lessons and leading activities under teacher direction.
- Good understanding of SEN strategies including visual timetables, sensory integration and AAC.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Required skills
- Use of visual timetables.
- Sensory integration approaches.
- Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods.
- Familiarity with PECS, Makaton or other AAC systems (desirable).
