About the role
The school in Barking & Dagenham is looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to lead a small Year 1 SEND class of seven pupils. This is a full‑time, one‑year fixed‑term position starting in September 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver daily activity‑based, intervention and play‑based lessons for a small SEN group.
- Direct the class and manage the Learning Support Assistant (LSA) assigned to the class.
- Collaborate with the SENCO and SEN teacher, who will provide most planning resources.
- Adapt and create additional resources or lessons as needed.
Required profile
- Extensive experience working with children who have moderate to complex SEND needs.
- Confidence in leading and teaching a small, non‑verbal or minimally verbal class.
- Ability to work independently while following guidance from SEN specialists.
