Highways Electrician – Routine Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for a Highways Electrician to join E.ON Utility Solutions in Rochdale. The role involves routine maintenance, inspection and testing of street lighting and highway electrical assets across the Oldham and Rochdale PFI contract. You will work across the North West, supporting installations, fault finding and emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and non‑routine electrical street lighting maintenance and installations.
• Carry out fault finding, repairs and emergency attendances on highway electrical assets.
• Conduct electrical testing of private cable networks and individual assets, including periodic inspections.
• Install and wire new street lighting and other highway electrical equipment.
• Drive and operate company vehicles safely while working on multiple sites.
• Complete risk assessments and adhere to company policies and safety procedures.
• Use hand‑held electronic devices to record work data and generate reports.
• Maintain productivity targets and contribute to team objectives.

Required profile

• Level 2 and Level 3 certificate in Highway Electrical Work (e.g., C&G 236 Part 1 & 2) or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 3 in Highway Electrical Work.
• Certification 714 – Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection & Testing of installations.
• Certification 210 – Working in the vicinity of DNO/iDNO equipment.
• First Aid at Work qualification.
• Manual Handling (104) certification.
• G39 BS 7671:2018 Level 3 Award for Electrical Installations.
