Highways Heavy Plant / HGV Operative

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Highways Heavy Plant/HGV Operative to join Northumberland County Council in Hexham. You will operate a range of heavy goods vehicles to support the delivery of highway schemes across the Hexham area, contributing to civil ground works, paving, drainage and tarmac repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Drive various HGVs to transport materials and equipment to and from highway project sites.
• Assist with civil ground works, including paving, drainage installation and tarmac repair tasks.
• Work independently between sites while adhering to health, safety and legislative requirements.
• Maintain vehicle logs and ensure compliance with NCC regulations.

Required profile

• Valid HGV licence (Category C/E).
• Ability to work unsupervised across multiple sites.
• Knowledge of relevant driving legislation and regulations.
