Highways Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Highways Supervisor to support a growing portfolio of highways maintenance and infrastructure projects across Glasgow and the South West of Scotland. You will work across multiple operational sites, ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise highways maintenance and civil engineering activities on several live sites.
• Lead daily briefings, toolbox talks and safety discussions.
• Monitor productivity, quality standards and programme performance.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety observations.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to maximise efficiency.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders and traffic management teams.
• Maintain accurate site records, reports and health & safety documentation.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Highways Supervisor, General Foreman, Works Supervisor or similar role.
• Strong background delivering highways maintenance, infrastructure or civil engineering works.
• Experience working within live traffic‑managed environments.
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel throughout the region.

Required skills

• SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
• CSCS Supervisor Card (or equivalent).
• First Aid at Work certification.
• NRSWA Supervisor qualification.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
