Hire Desk Controller

About the role

We are looking for a Hire Desk Controller to join our busy, fast‑paced operation in Slough. The role offers a varied mix of customer‑facing and administrative duties, allowing you to take ownership while working within a supportive team.

Key responsibilities

• Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to emails and customer queries.
• Manage inbound hire and sales enquiries, processing transactions accurately and promptly.
• Provide high‑level customer service both over the phone and at the trade counter.
• Carry out general administrative tasks and maintain accurate records.
• Develop strong product knowledge of tools and plant hire equipment to support customers effectively.
• Prioritise and manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑moving environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a customer‑service role handling inbound order or sales enquiries.
• Previous experience in the hire or construction industry is essential.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships.
• Initiative and sound judgment to make decisions in line with company policies.
• Collaborative team player with a flexible, adaptable approach.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and enhancing service levels.

Required skills

• Good computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Office.

What we offer

• Temp‑to‑perm contract with a competitive rate of £14.47 per hour.
• Monday‑Friday schedule, 7:30 am – 5:00 pm.
