About the role
Our client is seeking a skilled Horizontal Borer to join their precision engineering team in Canterbury. The role involves interpreting technical drawings and performing manual horizontal boring on cast iron, aluminium and welded components. The position is full‑time, on‑site, with the possibility of overtime.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and operate horizontal boring machines using Wolhaupter Boring Heads.
- Perform milling, drilling and tapping operations as required.
- Produce small batches (1‑5 pieces) of castings and welded fabrications.
- Measure bore dimensions accurately with bore micrometres.
- Interpret 2D engineering drawings to determine machining parameters.
Required profile
- Apprenticeship‑trained or equivalent experience with boring machines.
- Proven ability to set up workpieces for finish machining.
- Strong measurement skills using bore micrometres.
- Capability to read and apply 2D technical drawings.
