Hospitalist – Locum Position at East Kootenay Regional Hospital

About the role

Join East Kootenay Regional Hospital as a locum Hospitalist, delivering high‑quality inpatient care in a supportive, mountain‑town environment. You will work standard 8‑hour shifts, managing an average of 14–18 inpatients per rotation.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary physician for admitted patients, overseeing acute and chronic conditions.
• Develop and coordinate complex treatment plans in collaboration with nurses, specialists, surgeons, and allied health professionals.
• Maintain close communication with ICU and specialist colleagues to ensure comprehensive care.
• Document patient progress and manage handovers between shifts.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible Hospitalist with experience in inpatient medicine.
• Ability to work independently while integrating into a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to practice in a remote, mountainous region and adapt to locum schedules.
