Housekeeper / Caretaker

About the role

As a Housekeeper / Caretaker at JD Healthcare Group you will ensure that clinic, laboratory, technical and office environments are safe, clean, compliant and welcoming for patients and staff. Working within the Facilities Management team you will support daily operations, security and waste handling across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in laboratories, clinical spaces, offices and communal areas following SOPs.
• Clean, check and restock washroom facilities; manage laundry of micro‑fibre cloths, mop heads and scrub suits.
• Handle all waste streams (general, clinical, external) in line with regulations.
• Receive, verify and store deliveries; keep storage areas organised and safe.
• Support building security by maintaining key logs, securing premises after hours and being on‑call for emergencies.
• Perform compliance checks (fire alarm panels, emergency lighting, water treatment) and act as Fire Marshal when required.
• Assist with office relocations, furniture adjustments and ensure wheelchair‑accessible access.
• Carry out minor repairs, order cleaning supplies and file related paperwork both digitally and in hard copy.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cleaning, housekeeping, caretaking or facilities support, preferably in a clinical or laboratory setting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of presentation.
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, including COSHH, Manual Handling, Fire Safety and Infection Control.
