Housekeeper - Ward 20

About the role

The Housekeeper for Ward 20 will join the multidisciplinary ward team to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff. You will coordinate patient facilities services, oversee cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, and support the ward sister/charge nurse in meeting individual patient needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and monitor cleaning, catering and minor maintenance services on the ward.
• Carry out spot cleaning, manage spillages and ensure specialist equipment (e.g., drip stands, incubators, commodes) is cleaned regularly.
• Conduct weekly clinical environment audits using the Tendable system.
• Maintain the defect call log, report deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with contractors and support services.
• Manage ad‑hoc maintenance requests and liaise with the support service helpdesk.
• Dispose of clinical, domestic and confidential waste in line with policy.
• Ensure equipment for patient care is available, safely stored and returned for re‑processing.
• Uphold patient privacy and dignity while performing housekeeping duties.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the Tendable clinical audit system (or similar audit tools).
