Housekeeping Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Housekeeping Assistant to join our team at Bluebell House, providing essential cleaning and domestic support for older residents living with dementia and long‑term health conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and replenish cleaning supplies and stock.
• Perform cleaning duties according to worksheet instructions, including vacuuming, carpet shampooing, floor washing, and stair and lift cleaning.
• Clean bathrooms, toilets, baths, and washbasins, ensuring supplies of toilet rolls, soap and hand towels.
• Clean windows, walls, and paintwork, and ready vacated rooms for re‑occupation.
• Remove rubbish and clinical waste to designated storage areas for collection.
• Follow health, safety and COSHH guidelines, including safe handling of loads and fire evacuation procedures.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, report faults and ensure safe storage of supplies.
• Carry out laundry duties for sheets, curtains and other items.

Required profile

• Professional and courteous attitude towards residents and visitors.
• Ability to work safely and assess risks in moving and handling loads.
• Understanding of health and safety legislation and fire safety procedures.
• Team‑oriented mindset, responding positively to colleagues and instructions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cleaning techniques for various surfaces and equipment.
• Familiarity with COSHH assessments and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Basic maintenance of cleaning equipment.
