Housekeeping Team Leader / Senior Scout

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Housekeeping Team Leader / Senior Scout to oversee the cleanliness and hygiene of student accommodation and communal areas in Oxford city centre. You will manage a team of scouts, ensure high standards are met, and act as the key liaison between staff, students and management.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise scouts to deliver high‑quality cleaning and hygiene standards.
• Assist with room turnovers and support team members during busy periods.
• Handle initial enquiries, report staff issues and organise cover for absences.
• Maintain safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Deliver training, keep relevant records and ensure pantries and stores are tidy.
• Prepare rooms and communal spaces for students and conference delegates.
• Report damage, prohibited items, defects and safety concerns.
• Attend meetings with the Housekeeping Manager and support laundry and linen management.
• Provide cover for colleagues when required and perform other duties as directed.

Required profile

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Experience as a Cleaning Supervisor or Scout in a college or student accommodation setting.
• Self‑motivated, able to work without close supervision and handle routine problems.
• Calm under pressure, deadline‑driven and able to maintain confidentiality.
