Housing Occupational Therapist – North London

About the role

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a qualified Housing Occupational Therapist to join its Housing Service. Working across North London, you will assess disabled adults and their carers, recommend and design housing adaptations, and support independent living.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct major and minor housing adaptation assessments for disabled residents and carers.
• Complete complex Occupational Therapy and Carers’ Assessments under the Care Act 2014.
• Develop cost‑effective adaptation schemes and produce detailed reports and recommendations.
• Advise housing teams on applications, allocations and property suitability.
• Influence design of new‑build homes to meet Lifetime Homes Standards.
• Provide specialist guidance and training to housing colleagues.
• Deliver and fit low‑level equipment where appropriate.
• Manage a complex caseload while maintaining professional standards.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy and registration with the HCPC.
• Proven experience delivering housing adaptation assessments within a local authority.
• Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, housing legislation and disability adaptations.
• Ability to produce detailed assessment reports and manage complex cases.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regular travel.

Required skills
